The questions that this thread is about can be narrowed down to two issues:
1. Who can get nominated in each political party?
and
2. Once nominated, who can get elected?
I think that in discussing both these fundamental questions, all elements of character, politics, positions on issues, style, history, ethnicity, military service, parking tickets, affairs, religion, height (taller candidates almost always win), etc. etc. are relevant to the discussion.
I know some posters feel Rudy's and Newt's divorces are not key factors in their chances. But there are spokespersons for some key demographic groups (like Southern Baptists) who seem to feel the divorces and affairs are relevant and will affect their constituents votes. Also, I think it is naive to think that Hillary's gender or Obama's color and ethnicity won't have some impact on some voters. I don't think any of it is stupid...as long as the claimed trait is TRUE.
And there is where this thread does a really good job of sorting through the chaff and rumor to get to what candidates have actually done, actually said, actually stood for...
I think the divorces and affairs are relevant to SOME voters...so they are fair game on this thread, as GZ laid out the rules.
Hillary's billing records (the magical records - "poof", they appear after being lost for so long") are relevant too...I know some voters consider that relevant and it will affect their ultimate decisions.
Pictures of Rudy in drag? Multiple pictures of multiple events? Doesn't bother me, but might bother other people. |
