I think it's more about government and Eisenhower's "military industrial complex" than citizens. The "military industrial complex" is a smaller part of our country now, than it was under Eisenhower (or Truman, or Kennedy, or Johnson, or Nixon, or Ford, or Carter, or Reagan, or Bush I) Really? What percentage of the economy is it? How does that compare to other developed countries? How much do you want to bet that our complex is much bigger?
