hmm. You mean the mortgage company then pulled your tax returns? I actually don't think thats legal, because I9 queries of IRS and other gov't info are *just now* legal for employers to look up info on prospective employees. You have to get the employee to sign to hell and back, and even if he does, the company can still be held liable later if said employee claims he was later a victim of something due to your query. Its almost impossible to get IRS info if you are an employer. I had no idea they gave it away to mortgage companies, after all I don't want somebody digging up my tax returns for personal reasons and I don't think anybody else does either.
