They had grievances too, lots of them. Some of them were real and serious. We still don't give them a pass on their reaction. Why should I give a pass to warmed-over Nazism when I hear it from the Arabs and Persians?

What I'm pointing out is that in the PC culture of Europe & the USA today, it is very difficult to have a good Academic look at those grievances. There is a very long list of such, not the least are questions about 9/11 & Israeli intelligence. These things cannot be pursued in the USA for PC reasons. And I'm not talking about crackpot theories either. I don't have any use for them.

Carter's book is woefully biased, full of outright untruths, and he has both plagerized and twisted the work of others, as Dennis Ross and others, some from his own center, have complained.

That is a very typical answer that anyone runs into when they want to examine these issues. It makes my point nicely.

And isn't Zimbabwe a marvelous example of progress!

Err, what is the point? If the natives don't do a good job, they should let someone else steal their country?

Israel is just held to standards of purity that nobody else is judged by, certainly not the Arabs.

BS. Whites in Southern Africa.

What, you mean the PC that renders Israel immune to criticism? Does any exist? I haven't noticed any. By now the right-thinking people at the BBC (I really should say "left-thinking") have managed to convince their listeners that Israel alone is the greatest threat to world piece, thus taking on board the thinking that propels the Arabs and Persians.

I agree there is a dual standard. On one hand, you have the leftwingnuts that will make all sorts of outlandish claims, and I agree, as this becomes more open and accepted, it seeps into the mainstream. But in mainstream venues, including our government, Israel is a sacred cow. You seem to see one but not the other. There is unfortunately, a link between the two. If we could have a healthy and open discussion about Israeli-USA relations, we could avoid the idiocy that continues to mount. Instead, many people stand bravely with their finger in the dyke and don't understand that this means the water will finally crest the entire structure.
