They don't like 'uppity' women, religious tolerance, a hedonistic approach to life [actually, they love that, but cannot admit it], sexual liberation, and everything that Israel and the West mirror into their countries and culture.

If Israel were to cease to exist, their grievances and demands would skyrocket because they would have played a role in its disappearance, thereby becoming emboldened beyond measure. Coupling these grievances with 'success' in getting rid of the bane to them that is Israel would result in an intensification of the cultural clash that would escalate into warfare the like of which is difficult to imagine.

This is one of the reasons to support Israel, IMO. While I think we should do so on purely moral grounds, the fact is that Israel also, rightly or wrongly, has unintentionally turned out to be a protective lightning rod for the West. We are morally and practically bound to not allow that lightning rod's existence ever be in doubt.
