Do you know any Republicans? Have you asked their opinion on the subject?

Yes, I live in a very heavily Republican/religious region. Some few of them are like Pat B., but many more think Jesus can't come unless Jews live in Israel.

Very obviously designed to try to prevent Bush's election.

I'd guess, to the degree that the CIA actually tried to bash Bush, that is was payback for trying to blame the prewar hype on the CIA when in fact it should have been laid much more on the Administration.

notice you didn't mention State, which has hated Israel and the pro-Israel policy since 1948.

US policy has been strongly in favor of Israel, across both Dems & Reps for almost the entire history of the state of Israel. Try this on for size. Do you think either the Dem or Rep Presidential candidates who win their primaries will suggest any substantial examination of US/Israeli relations?

Which "issue" were you referring to?

The issue of Democracy and Ethnic states I'd say is the biggest elephant in the room.

Which is also untrue, or how did two members of AIPAC wind up investigated and charged for (as far as I can see) some quite trivial charge of passing information?

The only thing trivial about Israeli spying in the USA is the number that get prosecuted and convicted.

Your real complaint is the majority of American voters don't agree with you, and you think you should be able to overrule them.

No. If a majority of American voters are happy supporting current Israeli policies then the US will continue to do so. My observation is simply that that will lead to a long span of unrest in the ME, and likely prevent solutions. Fundamentally Israel & Israeli's must ask themselves what sort of a future they want, and how they are going to achieve it.
