Nixon inherited a big problem and got US troops out within one Presidential term - barely admittedly. Without betraying the national honor - sorry for using a word liberals don't understand. He then won what I believe to be the most one-sided landslide election in history - not because he was popular or beloved but because the Democrats ran a peace candidate. VN wasn't any direct threat to the US. It was a battlefield in the Cold War against communism.
