I'm lost trying to comprehend exactly how something like this might impact SONS, should it become pervasive......anyone??

Vodafone Demos Skype At CeBIT

Thu 15 Mar 2007 06:45 AM PST Vodafone has demonstrated Skype (or something similar) on its mobile phone service at CeBIT, reports Reuters. Based on Skype software, the application (code-named Starfish) “allows a cellphone user to see a list of buddies from various chat and Internet calling groups, such as MSN, Yahoo, AOL and Skype, and send messages and make Internet calls”. The internet calls actually use the mobile voice channel to get to the base station rather than the data channel, but then uses the internet to go the rest of the way rather than the traditional voice telephony network. The application sounds more like Vodafone’s effort in the whole instant messaging chat industry than a simple VoIP offering. That being said, the company hasn’t committed to launching the application…
