AS, some of you may not know loved Haliburton and was a shareholder. He is one of the few shareholders that did not make a profit on the stock...which is hard to do.

He only started to bad mouth the company AFTER he lost money on it...otherwise he wanted to be an owner of the company he liked it so much. This explains his anger since he cannot blame himself.

Apparently he suffers from a malady usually reserved for older men or alcoholics...

Larry Wachtel, Prudential Securities - CPQ VTSS HAL

Santa Claus rally is usually at the latter part of December

CPQ - Believes they are solving their problems, new CEO, etc. Likes CPQ, stock is coming back.

VTSS -Earnings at a 30% low, an undervalued stock. Specialty company.

HAL - Favors the sector. HAL is a quality name in the sector. Likes the idea that oil prices have
risen, not yet translated into drilling activities - expected to kick in 1Q 2000.

Agreed Rande. Favorite stocks which get toppy too fast are the riskiest to hold now. Bottom-feeding limits risk. However picking the bottom is just as tricky as picking the top. Witness TYC which thank God I didn't buy yesterday. Tried to get it to day at 24 but it never went back down that far.

My bottom-feeding plays now are HAL, INTC, XRX, MXTR, IFMX, HDD, WDC, DLTK, and LOR. CPQ if it drops anymore. EGRP, KMAG, JNJ and IMRS worked out well today. Sold URBN at 24 and will try to get it back below 22.

What do you think of CDNW and BNBN now that AMZN is flying? They're at their base prices again now.

Eventually all of these stocks will trade mugh higher, as well as my faves ANF and UIS.

Every day brings new opportunities but when you buy near the bottom rarely disasters.

End of day bottom-feeder report: KMAG a small DD company just rallied today which might signal a nice bounce off the bottom for other beaten-down dogs in the sector; MXTR. HDD, WDC. There is reportedly a shortage of drives now, as well as chips which is why I bought INTC relatively cheap today. Bought HAL at low and immediately got a 3 point pop. Love it when that happens.

LOR has been sinking and is one of the best longterm plays there is. The #2 satellite company in the world and already focused on wireless internet. Not far from its recent lows and MSFT reportedly wants to buy in. Bought more today.

Bought JNJ and am eyeing LLY as drug stocks continue out of favor. Just heard a report on the radio from AARP saying drug costs have sky-rocketed for seniors and cost more than all other medical care combined. Imagine the profits. Might buy from PFE too as Viagra works (ask my girlfriend).

Oil stocks have been good buys lately. I missed the bottom though so I'll lay off. My dad has lots of XMOM and Chevron so I'll inherit it someday. Bought HAL once and lost so I've stayed away since. Don't buy what you don't know. Important lesson. You have to specialize a little bit to be knowldegeable. I know best computers, wireless and retail. Used to follow internet but no more. Used to play drugs a lot but they're pretty fully valued now. Internets a sleeper though as well as cable. All the same really soon enough.
