What you are describing is already happening in the European Union : an erosion of soverinty by faceless un -elected and un- accountable EU government.

By the way, do you read the UK Spectator ? They have published a number opinion pieces along these line published recently.

I beleive there have been some very large net gains from trade, and to some degree, the movement of capital and people. Those gains are evident of thousands of years of history.

There have also been positive effects from specific and technical agreements - Postal Conventions, International Civil Aviation Regulations, World Health Organization, etc.

The mischief comes with the money & trade: International Monetary Fund, World Bank, Bank for International Settlements, the old GATT and now WTO rules, etc.

Many Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are part of the problem, being non-elected and not responsible to a nation-state. World Wildlife Fund, and many of the "Charities" which target the Third World do odd things when no one is looking.
