One key development has been the narrowing differential between solar and conventional energy sources over the last decade. Industry reports show that the average prive of PV cells and modules actually decreased by 24% in the span of 1996 to 2003. This cost narrowing is expected to continue, and is anticipated to spur the continued explosive growth of solar energy alternatives.
