AMD jumps to 8th-biggest chipmaker from 15th

SAN FRANCISCO/FRANKFURT, March 15 (Reuters) - Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD.N: Quote, Profile , Research) rose to eighth-biggest chip producer in 2006 from 15th place in 2005, partly at the expense of rival Intel Corp. (INTC.O: Quote, Profile , Research), a market research firm said on Thursday.
