Since QUALCOMM is now declaring essential GSM IP, and asserting it however selectively, any company negotiating a rearrangement of their licensing agreement with QUALCOMM would be prudent to make sure that the GSM base is covered

Does Nortel make standalone GSM (non-wCDMA) infra? It's one thing to proactively license whatever GSM IP Qualcomm has if it's offered as part of their IPR buffet (just in case); it's quite another if Nortel has now agreed to pay an ongoing royalty to Qualcomm on GSM-only infrasctructure.
