The section of the report dealing with Niger, Wilson and Plame is simply a tissue of lies. It's a shame on the Democrats who served on the committee who got gamed into approving it. Why did they, if it was a lie? Did Wilson report that the former PM of Niger told him that an Iraq trade delegation - headed by someone with long involvement in Iraq's nuclear program - came to Niger in 1999, and the PM concluded they wanted to buy more yellowcake? Was that a lie? Yes or No? The CIA testified that Wilson said it. Not even Wilson has claimed that he didn't. It just disappears whenever it would be an inconvenient truth, to coin a phrase. I love how official at the White House AND State are now supposed to have been in the "smear" campaign. What, pray, would Richard Armitage's motive have been for "smearing" Joe Wilson? He didn't even support the Iraq war! He was just dishing gossip. And so all of Georgetown learned how it was that Democratic partisan Joe Wilson had been sent to Niger, supposedly at the behest of the Bush White House and the CIA. This being a naturally interesting question - how the f--- did Joe Wilson get sent, he's working for the Kerry campaign? -- the news spread quickly. That is the obvious history, the rest is shameless lying, self-promotion and partisan spin.
