Alpha Pro Tech Introduces Disposable Protective Apparel To The Food Service Market
HILTON HEAD, S.C., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Guidera Communications, headquartered in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Alpha Pro Tech, Ltd. (OTC-Bulletin Board: APTD), a Nogales, Arizona-based manufacturer of disposable, protective apparel for the medical industry, today announced they will work together to inform and educate Wall Street's investment brokerage community about Alpha Pro Tech's successful entry into the food service and other new markets.
Rosanne C. Oakley, President of Guidera, said, ``Alpha Pro Tech has a solid base in the medical and clean room product markets. It has expanded its manufacturing capability and introduced its patented anti-slip disposable shoe cover for the food service and meat packing industries, where occupational injuries due to slipping on wet floors are a major problem.''
She added: ``The Aqua Trak(R) shoe cover & the method for making it are protected by U.S. Patent No. 5,048,126. The shoe covers are manufactured in the company's Valdosta, Georgia manufacturing facility.''
Alpha Pro Tech's president, Alexander W. Millar said, ``We have an exclusive marketing & distribution agreement for food service in North America with Chicopee Inc. formerly part of the Johnson & Johnson, now a subsidiary of Polymer Group (NYSE:PGH), a recognized leader in delivering top quality sanitation & cleaning products to the food service industry.
``Chicopee, in conjunction with Hardee's Food Systems, Inc., recently completed a successful three-month evaluation of the Chix(R) Aqua Trak Black(TM) at a Hardee's operating unit. Aqua Trak Black(TM) is a trademark pending of Alpha Pro Tech, and Chix(R) is a trademark of Chicopee.
``The success of the tests, which eliminated slips while protecting the workers' shoes, resulted in the decision by Hardee's to utilize the shoe covers in the safety program for their 3,500 operating locations. Chicopee expects initial orders of 250,000 from Hardee's, & has additional testing programs underway with other food service operators. To maintain the exclusivity of the distribution agreement, Chicopee has agreed to purchase a minimum of $10 million of the product annually for two years.''
