Quarterdeck has new management which thus far is making the right moves. Curt Hessler is a well connected guy who would not associate with a dog. He has moved the company out of the way of the Microsoft steamroller. He is competing against McAfee, CyberMedia, and Symantec in the utilities, virus, disk management arenas. Competition here is tough but these players can't give things away for free like Gates's goons. Quarterdeck will continue to grow market share if it focuses on quality products and service. It has an international network in place. The company is lean and mean after nearly going chapter 11 under Gaston due to rapid expansion, Microsoft freebies and Windows 95, and the memory price collapse.
I am confident the 4th quarter will show growing sales and earnings. Remote control, virus, disk space, information management, diagnostic/correction utilities, all will stay hot. Unless Microsoft incorporates all of this into Windows 98 this is the best $2-3 stock around.
