That could be a source of profit right there. @ 350 lbs of iron per yard, that is 300 tons of manganese steel per mile plus the spikes, frogs, tie plates, switches etc. If they were stainless we would really be in the money. But manganese steel rail is worth 700 dollars a ton.

The ties could bring in some cash. @ one every 21 inches, that is 3000 per mile. And 8 X 8 tie would bring about 25 bucks. Staking 50 miles of rail sounds like a good plan to start the mine.
