I'm not saying that temperatures haven't been increasing. But just like medicine, you'd better make sure you're not treating the symptoms instead of the cause.
I don't know the answer to your questions, Hawk. I don't know enough about the issue right now, and won't have the time until the summer to investigate it more thoroughly. I'm just pointing out another side. I will say, though, that I still believe that there are a lot of smart people in the scientific community, and that (relatively) free speech still exists there, even if a kind of coercion due to faddism is something that every community can be afflicted with. If what you are suggesting is so, then, yes, I do have "faith" that it will, in the ripeness of time, prevail. And yes, I do have a reflexive susicion of POVs that are "convenient" for powerful vested interests to simply continue what they want to do. |
