You believe some wacky stuff. Does all the crap come to you in a dream or are these ideas induced by Bacalhau fumes like the Oracle of Greece?

In any event I can assure you, based on the experience of some of my extended family that it was very easy to leave the Russian controlled areas at the end of World War II if you had the money to travel. After 1949 it became more difficult and by 1961 you saw the building of the Berlin Wall.

In later years travel became easier again. During the Brezhnev era my Grandfather's step-sister, a Doctor and Soviet citizen, traveled to Paris twice a year to visit family and continued to do so until her death in Moscow. She spoke fluent French and could have easily moved to Paris, but at that point in life you get settled into what you know best. To be fair, her life in Moscow was hardly the standard Soviet issue as a result of her last name and family history.
