A foundation for local response to peak oil and climate change
by Bryn Davidson

At the Dynamic Cities Project we’ve been working to integrate peak oil and climate change into the planning frameworks used by municipal and regional decision makers.

The first major challenge of this process has been to introduce the idea that ‘business as usual’ is truly not sustainable and that there are a number of plausible futures – some of them undesirable - that we’re potentially faced with.

The second key challenge has been translating the technical (and often contentious) data into hard targets and timelines that can become actionable by all of the various levels of a city government, business, or institution.

This presentation (Models, Timelines & Targets - A Foundation for Action) represents our most recent efforts toward setting simple, plausible, and actionable targets that can form the foundation of a proactive and visionary response to peak oil and climate change.
