That is nice, but what is suffering is mostly single day trips into Canada, what is going to suffer this year as far as we can tell are the longer bus trips from Canada into the US. If one driver seems to be down 300 passengers for his 10 day trip to Washington and New York, that is only 6 bus loads for one driver. He is going to move to 3 day all Canadian trips.
I am saying is that as the Canadian Government, and the Provincial Governments are moving to find people to replace American Tourists, so Americans should be aware, and start to figure out how to aid their tourism industry. I haven't seen any discussion from the right, or hysterics from the left yet, as American Tourism faces a sudden, sharp depression.

Think about what I am saying, a single driver who has for 15 or 20 years made a big part of his living on 10 day trips to Washington and New York, has no passengers this year. Not his numbers are down a little as they have been since the passport issue came up, he has no passengers. This year was the first time he did not have many trips to Florida, he spent the winter at home for the first time.

So for instance there is a hotel in New Jersey that will be down 300 5 night stays this year. There is a hotel in Niagara Falls New york that lost 300 one night stays and one in Washington that lost 300 2 night stays. This trip will impact Canadians only in that Montreal will lose 300 one night stays.....

And you will notice I am not saying security needs to be changed, I am saying that since you are putting the security up, you need to prepare to look to aid the industry you are liable to decimate.

I no longer think that policy can be changed, or that it should be. The damage was done by the way the issue was handled, and quite frankly I was appalled at the attitude of Canadian Politicians crawling to Washington pleading for some intervention in the last round of talks. I think security into the US is a US problem and Canadians should stop whining about it. We can find other tourists. But, I think that CNN is damaging tourism. Most Canadians get CNN on regular cable, and don't see Fox at all. So we are beginning to see the states as swamped with Mexicans and drug wars. Your TV makes the US seem less friendly and more dangerous every day.
