If you mean housing recession, sure, we're in it already. But it's not enough to cause a national recession, defined by two consecutive quarters of negative growth. I don't think we'll even see 1 quarter of negative growth because of the subprime issues.

The tighter lending standards have not migrated to prime and in fact, there will be some stimulation of prime buying due to interest rates being held in check. Subprime woes will further stimulate corporate activity which is a huge component of the current expansion.

All in all this is a walk in the park compared to what this economy has seen in recent decades.

It'll take much higher rates to see who's swimming naked.
