The rules for participating in private placement vary by jurisdiction, actually I think Canada is now more accessible than the US, since the US recently increased the cutoffs. I guess that means you can be rich in Canada but not rich in the US.

I heard of a person who contacted a rich relative, and had them subscribe, naming themselves the beneficiary. Sounds possible to me.

Where there's a will, there a way.
