You can write China off as a long term threat to The West if they are going to continue their dopey isolationist Albania/North Korean thinking of having TD-SCDMA as their own, special technology. It's just another typical China royalty rort.

They can probably make it work well enough to do a half-baked job. But it'll be just an isolated technology going nowhere, like Japan's PHS ideas.

If China had gone gung ho on CDMA2000, they could have ruled the world.
