I can see a number of possible motives at work there. I can understand why Russia does not want a nuclear-armed Iran, there are already too many members of the club. I can also see why the Russians want to get paid (assuming this is a real issue, the Iranians claim they are current), just in case, uh, something should happen to that plant before it gets fired up.
