There's the big doughnut hole in Medicare which is really strange. There is no reason for health care to be this expensive. It's a crock run by crooks.

I know doctors who hate being doctors because their profession is being run by insurance companies. I hear of doctors offering big discounts if patients pay cash instead of going through insurance companies. I also hear of doctors planning out how much they want to make in income and then dividing that by the number of patients they have to see. It's the 5 minute drive-by diagnosis and prescription run. Then I hear of pediatricians in SF receiving $5/patient/month capitation regardless of how often they see said patient.

I hope Walmart's $40 walk in nurse practitioner idea takes off. There are so many things that do not require a $300, 2-hour-wait visit to the doctor.

The US healthcare system is ridiculous. We pay double what other industrialized countries pay and we have a lower life expectancy.
