No question there, Obama is no JFK.

However, recall that JFK achieved sainthood after his death because of the circumstances of his untimely passing and what he represented. He won the 1960 election by the narrowest of margins, had a disaster in the Bay of Pigs, started the Viet Nam buildup and was unsuccessful in most of his legislative agenda.

In retrospect, it's impossible to predict how a president will turn out. Jimmy Carter was an brilliant man, a Naval Academy nuclear engineer, a farmer, a man of unquestioned ethics, a tireless worker - yet his presidency is considered disappointing. On the other hand, Ronald Regan was a forgetful ex movie actor who worked as little as possible - yet his presidency is considered successful. History is filled with similar puzzles... Grant, the brilliant civil war leader, a poor president...

Obama represents to many a chance to break from the past, nothing more, nothing less.

Scrawny and unattractive? Kind of follows in Lincoln's footsteps in that respect.
