If you were paying attention you would have noticed the testimony of Victoria Toensing. She was one of the authors of the legislation in question. She testified that Plame was not covert under the law. I believe knowledgeable people over partisan hacks every time.

Toensing stated later on one of the talk shows that not one person asked Plame whether she was covert within the meaning of the statute.

Not one.
