Clouds are the main cause of the greenhouse effect. Increase the clouds, increase the greenhouse effect. Without clouds we would not retain much daytime heat from the sun during the night. Most would just radiate back out into outer space like on Mars.

There is no proof that increasing levels of CO2 cause much of a greenhouse effect. They appear correlated through time, but many think CO2 will rise because of global warming. You see as you heat water you lower the ability of CO2 to dissolve in water. The biggest amounts of CO2 in earth's atmosphere is in bodies of water. As you heat up the earth's oceans they will release lots of CO2 gas into the atmosphere.

No one denies (or should deny) that the current rise in CO2 levels in the lower atmosphere is caused by man's burning of various types of carbon. But no one knows if this CO2 buildup is heating up the atmosphere, or if it means a hill of beans to anyone.
