Analysts Snyder and Ryan said Motorola's worsening fortunes could give Icahn more leverage to press for a bigger buyout--or for more radical solutions like a private-equity takeover of the company.

Ryan said that Icahn can say to shareholders "these guys (Motorola management) don't know what they are doing" because a plan Motorola laid out to Wall Street in January "fell apart" within 60 days.
