Well, lets take what you have said as accurate (which I don't believe because the science says otherwise) the truth is we are fighting a war there with supposed intentions of winning.

Hearts and minds and all that.

Blame Saddam, Bush or Clinton if you like, but things started going downhill badly for Iraqis as soon as the first gulf war hit, and really started getting bad when the sanctions started to bite. There has been some considerable suffering amongst the civilian population. This is before the second war even started.

Nothing spreads faster then bad news, we all know that. So if someone gets ill in Iraq, or a baby is born deformed (for whatever reason) they are going to look for something or someone to blame. If it's shown the Western world has a dual standard for safety of radioactive materials of here versus there, then there will be hell to pay. There will be an unbelievable determined enemy to do us harm with hatred burned deeply in their souls. It will go on for generations too in all probability.

That may be good news for the armaments industry, but bad news for humanity.
