3/23/07 Update
The Bears took a nap last week and both the Nasdaq Biotech Index and Charity Contest portfolios gained ground. Nonetheless, both are still in negative territory for the year, with the NBI closing Friday down -2.87% YTD (vs. down -6.16% YTD a week ago) and the Contest portfolios' median down -2.02% YTD (vs. down -5.00% YTD a week ago). At Friday's close, 12 of the 31 Contest portfolios were in the black and 16 of the 31 were beating the NBI.
My own portfolio (up 20.2% YTD) managed to hold on to first place, but my lead has been substantially narrowed. I'm now being challenged by Iceberg's COR-heavy portfolio (up 17.0% YTD), Mopgcw's ACAD-heavy portfolio (up 16.2% YTD) and Rcmac's COR-heavy portfolio (up 16.1% YTD). Wilder's portfolio (up 13.2% YTD), which held second place for many weeks, has dropped to fifth place.
I'll be traveling for about ten days, so I won't be doing my usual update next Friday and possibly the week after. Hopefully, during my absence, none of the other portfolios will knock me out of first place. That would be so unchivalrous!
Enjoy the first weekend of spring everyone!
