You need good news? How about this? I planted organic heirloom chard, spinach, lima beans and okra today. Still a tad early for tomatoes here.
This will be the first round of a garden crop that uses no petroleum products. Transportation by foot to furthest location neighbors half a block away....:)

Sometime this summer I gotta get up and see this guy's operation. He is my hero based on the book "The Omnivore's Dilemma":
