I think partitioning the Sunni and Shia is the only real solution for the rest of Iraq. It's really astounding that nobody in charge saw this coming. It's so obvious now, looking back. We knew that the Sunni's were running things. We knew that the Kurds could run their own section. We knew that the Southern Shiits would split off and be friendly with Iran. And we knew when we took down the Taliban in Afghanistan that we were helping Iran. And we knew that Iran was really our major long term problem. The Iranians must have looked on in disbelief as we made them the overwhelming major power in the Gulf. A real failure of leadership by the Bush Administration.
