The GOP is standing strong on some issues so a 2/3 majority cannot be achieved in the Senate to impeach, but more importantly convict, Bush and Cheney.

Until his own party leaves his side, impeachment would be a purely partisan diversion for a Congress that has lots of work to do.

And the last thing the Democrats need to do is create an incumbent for the 2008 elections.

At first I was not happy about Pelosi's stand against impeachment. However, I see the wisdom in her decision more clearly as time proceeds.

They need to work toward getting our troops out of harms way before they put another hawk in the White House.........and that's what would happen.

Bush will pardon anyone that gets convicted of anything between now and the end of his term, so lets get something done that's constructive..........energy, war in Iraq, global warming, social security, the idiot prescription drug bill that is costing our seniors tons of money, etc.

If one of these investigations discovers something egregious enough to turn more GOP senators against Bush then they can do the impeachment to remove him. But until that happens, it would be fruitless.
