A mild anesthesia is used during the colonoscopy procedure, virtually eliminating any pain but necessitating that someone drive you home. The night-before prep is the worst part, and it's just an inconvenience for several hours in the discomfort of your own home. Having a full-body examination by a dermatologist can be another life-saver.
