chapq - if its that vital then why wasn't/ isn't a huge R&D resource put on a workaround? And if Q doesn't have as good engineers as BRCM, which seems to be the case in this area then go and negotiate a FRAND license?

The worry is that there may be more of this hidden under the surface. Who knows who else is going toturn up with some vital component of cdma tha Q doesn't own.

I am beginning to wonder if the whole area is just too complex and any patnt fight is going to end up in a Gordian knot. I used to think Q had its technology totally under control but I am afraid that these little discoveries seem to me to indicate they don't.

Sort of reminds me of the Anna Nicole baby case. Just take a DNA sample of the baby and its over in ten seconds. Same thing here, just do a workaround and its over....so where is it? Get some of the $bns of R&D and just do it.

Best,

L
