I don't need damp rid when the power is on, but it has been known to go out for a week at a time. In the mean time I'm relying on the heater. Can you imagine what it would be like if we didn't have elec? I had to call the fire dept today on my neighbor. We went outside to enjoy the garden between rain squalls and the air burnt out noses. Someone was burning something toxic so we went to investigate. The smoke was coming out of the neighbors chimney and it was pitch black. I swear he must have been burning rubber backed rugs. The fire dept was there within 10 minutes. I went back out just now and the smell is gone.
