I'm sure everybody else here knows about it, but I'd never heard of the volumetric expansion of gasoline in line with temperature increases. It seems that on a hot day (gas at 80F versus the 60F standard) I'll pay roughly $1 extra for a 20 gallon fill.

So my lower mileage in summer isn't just the AC. I'm also getting less energy per gallon.

The oil companies have embraced temperature adjusted volumage in Canada, but not here. May have something to do with lower average temperatures of the gas at the pump in Canada.
