"Wayo" is a Pidgin English term that Elmat picked up in Nigeria. It refers to trickery, such as the classic Nigerian email scam where the recipient is asked to help move money out of the country in return for a percentage of the amount.

Elmat uses it rather liberally. For example, he thinks the global warming issue is a wayo scam by scientists looking for funding. <g>
