I've often wondered if one could start a run on a lightly traded stock like this which has fallen significantly by issuing a large buy order, causing the market makers to scramble by raising the ask. Some shares would have to go through at the ask, then the buyer would raise his limit to the ask again. Each time the market maker would raise the ask until everyone on the sidelines wonders what is going on and they jump in, too. Finally, when there is sufficient volume, the buyer would sell way above his average buying price. Anybody think this is happening?
