The Detroit News ran a series of articles about this matter about six months ago. Dearborn, Mi is home to the largest Muslim (percentage wise)population in the US. In Dearborn, you will find churches from three major religions (Muslim, Jewish and Christian all side by side. The restaurants nearby are a tasty medley, of Kosher, Middle Eastern, and Slavic. If you take the time to learn a few basic greetings in these Middle Eastern languages, you will always get good service.
I frequently visit this area. Almost all of the convenience store owners are Muslim (Syrians, Lebanese, Iranians, Jordanians etc) Their preference is not to talk politics at all. They keep a low profile, and wish this war with Iraq was over, because it brings upon them much unwanted attention.
But...believe what you want to believe...if you see a terrorist behind every Muslim ...so be it.
Learn how to confront your fears, not hide behind them.
