>>>The islamic "charities had no part in any funding of any of this???<<<

Here it gets a bit murky. Arabs and Muslims give a lot of money to fund charitable organizations. The Arabs in Detroit complained when the FBI confiscated their bank accounts, even though they could prove that the money was going to orphanages in the middle east. This is still in the courts.

The FBI has been very generous in calling all Arab and Muslim fund raising as terrorist sponsored. Even though the UN, France, Germany and Britain have a list of approved Muslim recipient organizations . Its my view that whenever large block of money get moved around globally, sticky fingers will always show up. This is not an Arab or Muslim phenomenon.

American Muslims were very careful about to whom they sent their money. If their money went to the wrong group they could be jailed as co-conspirators of terrorists. (no one has been charged with being a co-conspirator in Detroit).

The Red Crescent is like the Red Cross... probably some money gets siphoned off, like it did in the Katrina Mess.

So the answer to your question is...I don't know.
