Thanks for both the on- and off- line messages.

It should probably be obvious to me, but I'm unclear as to what you mean by "right on your line". Other than sometimes finding myself in a minor conflict due to my lack of expertise in the matter, or because of the situation I may happen to find myself in at any moment in time, I don't have a very rigorous stance on the subject one way or the other. I recognize the validity of the institution, and I've also seen how it can be gamed and abused.

For clarity, and I insert this here because my earlier posts may have appeared misleading, I posted both the ARCchart and Techdirt pieces with the hope of eliciting discussion, and I'm glad to say that they did. But they were not my own writing, fwiw.
