Matsu has a new DVD single chip...... Matsushita Puts Media Core Processor Tech on 1 AV Decoder LSI ÿ 10/02/97 Comline Daily News Computers COMLINE NEWS SERVICE (Copyright 1997) ÿ Matsushita Electric Industrial {6752} and Matsushita Electric Works {6991} have jointly developed an AV decoder LSI for use with DVD players and will begin shipping samples in December. The new MN67750 incorporates the media core processor technologies developed by Matsushita Electric Industrial and is priced at 10,000 yen. It combines functions which have previously required 5 chips for video reproduction, audio reproduction, descrambling, on-screen displays, and a DA converter for video. It is also capable of synchronous AV processing control and system control. Other companies have been working to combine these functions onto a single chip. Matsushita will soon introduce a DVD player which uses the new chip, and by next year, the company hopes to include ECC, memory and other functions on this chip as well. ----------------- It looks like a Ziva Plus - Controller - Video DAC Then next year - Memory - ECC Ziva2, rumored to be out about the end of the year, is rumored to add the first two and I suspect, some of the functionality Freddy found in that silly 10K -----------------
