That's what's bugging me Mr. Rrufff.

I can see Wall Street stone walling because of the money. But not the bureaucrats. There has to be another reason for them to put all that money in the industry's pockets. At the very least it has to be "ideological."

Some form of economic/market philosophy that causes them to fear opening the DTC to any manner of accounting or responsibility. But what market "theory" could be so important that it would cause them to engage in what would be a criminal conspiracy for anyone else?

Bureaucracies generally love expanding authority and busting budgets. But when it comes to counterfeiting stock, Hedge Funds/Investment Pools, derivatives and the DTC the SEC goes in the opposite direction. I just don't understand why.

And if its not ideological... well the only things I can think of would all revolve around our amazingly unproductive economy, massive debt and equally massive foreign obligations. The tune sounds something like:

If you can't compete;
Then be too big to nail.
If you can't be too big to nail;
Then just make damn sure...
All your Deliveries Fail!

[Sly & The Family Sopranos, @1978]

But I ask you... in all seriousness... what kind of policy sense does that make for the supposed leader of Western democracy?! ...I just do not get it.
