Only because we talk about things that are contentious. As I often say, if we discussed normal things on SI most of us would agree most of the time. We simply hit all the hard edges on SI- and it makes it appear we are much more dissimilar from each other than we actually are. Of course some people relish the "us themness" of such arguments. I cannot say that I do, having seen the corrosive quality of such discourse over time, but to each their own.
