QUALCOMM Squawk ...

<< Have any estimates of the risk to NOKs earnings related to legal disputes with QCOM been discussed? >>

Ad nauseam on the QUALCOMM Boards.

For your reference those boards are here ...

Subject 8007

Subject 36035

Enjoy ...

Also you can use this Nokia board for redundant infomercials ...

Subject 3710

<< It has been reported that NOK has admitted the use of QCOM patents for which it is not licensed. >>

It has NOT been reported by Nokia, and to the contrary. You need to learn to filter spin and not read anything extraneous into public statements made outside a courtroom. Where such a statement counts is in a legal proceeding, and QUALCOMM has initiated those against Nokia in 6 countries on 3 continents. Nokia has stated that it needs a GSM as well as a WCDMA license from QUALCOMM. There is after all a litigious patent predator on the loose who was granted the privilege of ETSI membership in 1997 and agreed (finally) to be bound by their IPR policy in Q2 1999. We have a ways to go before the courts in Europe and China act on the 2 tardily declared GSM GPRS 'essential' patents that QUALCOMM is alleging that Nokia is infringing, so on the short haul, Nokia's risk is minimal and they are unlikely to be fazed by a 200 pound chimpanzee initiating legal actions.
