This is one thing Barnett definitely gets right - it isn't "Americanization", it is globalization. Nobody points to the proliferation of Japanese cultural exports and calls it "Japanization".

The reason globalization has had an American face is because we restarted it after WWII, and we so utterly dominated the market for most of the past 60 years because the rest of the free planet was "hardship duty" for 20 years after the war, and the communist block wasn't playing.
