Rick,
that segment was in search of a standard. In an PC Magazine column John C. Dvorak, one of the most important figures as I think outlined that. That changed recently, where interoperability became a trend in the cable-modem gear.

If cable-modems are competing vs. xDSL gear, why shouldn't cable carriers compete against local phone players ? After all, they got the better wires in the trenches <G>. I think what limited them in the past were regulatory issues, call it govermnet-created niches. The telecom bill changed that and I think many people currently do not look far enough when trying to predict upcoming forces in the industry. Don't forget cable. Metropolitan areas can be connected easily, and now the trend for mergers in the cable industry is becoming increasingly persistent.

I'm looking for an undervalued company with a good balance sheet in the cable segment. That will be my next obsession <G>.

regards
CROSSY
